How I spent my summer vacation
A visit to a hill station is worth enjoying during the summer vacation. There is get over the plains. People like to go to hill stations to refresh themselves.
It was terribly hot in June. School work could not be done properly. Students were all looking forward to holidays. When our school broke up for summer vacation on the 3rd of June, we felt a great relief.
My father made a programme to go to Mussorie. I requested him to spend a few days at Haridwar also. He agreed to my request. On 12th June we left Jalandhar by the Dehradun Passenger. We reached Haridwar the next day in the morning. We stayed there in a rented out.
Haridwar is a beautiful town with lots of temples. It is situated on the bank of the holy Ganges. It is considered as a holy place of the Hindus and resents a god view. We stayed there for five days. We had jolly good time there.
We used to go to the Ganges for a bath in morning and in evening. The water was very cold but we enjoyed it a lot. There was a great rush of people at the ghat. In the evenings, the ghat resented a gala appearance. The whole place summed with life. Thousands of people could be seen coming and going.
After six days we went up to Mussorie. It is a beautiful hill station and has been rightly called the “Queen of Hills”. We stayed there for about a week. The weather was very pleasant and the scenery simply charming. The atmosphere enjoyed long walks in the mornings and in the evenings. We also used to go to see pictures and for strolling. W went to see all famous places of Mussorie.
After a week, we came back to Ludhiana. We bought some gifts for our friends. The weather in the plains was still very hot.

How I Spent my Summer Vacation
A Trip To The Hills
A trip to the hills is the best way to spend one’s vacation when the plain burns with heat, we look to the hills. To go to a hill station is the best way to spend the summer vacation. We dream of the hills throughout the year. We have to save money and make other preparations for the hills.
Last year we decided to go to Kashmir. It is the best hill station in India. But it is very costly and very far off. Very few families can afford to go to hills in these hard days. Kashmir is a paradise on earth. It is a land of snow mountains, lovely lakes and sparking rivers. The roads of Kashmir are full of beauty and charm.
From Delhi we took the night train for Jammu. The train reached Jammu early in the morning. Form Jammu we took a bus for Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir. On the road the scenery was grand and glorious.
On the way it started raining cats and dogs. It rained so heavily that the roads were broken and our bus could go no further. So we halted at Ramban till roads were repaired. We had to stay there for a week. For three days the rain did not stop. It took another three days to repair the roads.
When we left Ramban, we crossed Banihal Pass which is the highest mountain on way to Kashmir. Here we were on the top of the world. We found snow on both sides of the road. Leaving Banihal in the evening, we reached Srinagar late- in the night. We spent the night in the Tourist Centre and hired house boat the next morning.
Living in a houseboat is a special experience. The boat stands in the Jhelum River or the Dal Lake. Our houseboat was in the Jhelum River near the bridge known as Amira Kadal. It is the most famous bazaar and bridge of Srinagar. There is a hotel in this houseboat known as Punjab and Kashmir Hotel. The houseboat is connected with the bank for light and water supply. Boats also come to sell their fruits, carpets and other goods.
After staying a week in the boat we went to Pahalgam. It is a hill station in Kashmir which has snowy mountains round and sparking streams flowing through the town. Many people live in tents on the side of the Lidder stream. It looks like a tented town. We went climbing the mountains around the city of Pahalgam. Up the mountains we found a bridge of snow, with water flowing under it.
After a week we returned to Srinagar again. We had an excursion on the Dal Lake and went to Shalimar Garden, Nishat Garden, Chasma Shashi and other gardens. We also went to see the Wular lake. Then we went to Gulmarg and spent a week there.
Gulmarg is the best hill station and there is perpetual snow round it. It is famous for golf course and skating in winter. Many Europeans visit this place and stay here. Nights here are very cold and it rains here almost every day in summer. Weather is fine for a few hours during the day when people can go climbing the mountains and collect flowers.
We returned to Delhi after a month’s stay in Kashmir. It was that best experience of my life. after spending a month in Kashmir one does not like to visit any other mountain. No other mountain has the charm of Kashmir. One remembers Kashmir forever and over.

How I Spent My Last Summer Vacation
Every student is always waiting for the summer vacation. This is the period when he gets relief from hard studies of the session and has some free time to enjoy himself as he likes.
Almost every year during my summer vacation, I go to one or the other hill station to spend a month or so there. It is because it is extremely hot in the plains and one wants an escape from it as early as possible.
However, during the last summer, I went to my aunt who lives in Delhi. I knew that Delhi is a very hot place and to go there was no better than staying at my own native place in Haryana. But my aunt had pressed me hard to visit and stay at her house for at least a fortnight. Her word was an order for me and I could not disobey her.
So, I went to Delhi to stay at my aunt’s only half-heartedly. But, as I went to her house, soon all my fears of spending a hellish time in the scorching heat of Delhi were allayed and even nullified.
My aunt is a rich businesswoman entrepreneur of Delhi and so is my uncle. So, they lead a lucrative, luxurious life. Their house is all air-conditioned where I found no trace of the heat I had to endure, in my own native house. Then my aunt offered me choicest cold drinks and chilly fruit juices.
My aunt got a holiday from her work and took me in her air-conditioned car to various places worth seeing in Delhi such as the Red Fort, the India Gate, the Zoological Park, the Jantar Mantar, the Qutab Minar, etc. We visited only one or two places each day. One day, she took me to her office also which is fully air-conditioned. So, I felt no discomfort anywhere while staying with her. I decided to spend my whole summer vacation in her house and this is how my period of summer vacation was speilt. Of course, I also completed my homework there and got lessons in music, dancing, painting and computer-operating, also there.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation
My boyfriend, Greg and I felt it would be a great opportunity to spend some quality time with our friends. We were going on a three day camping trip with long time friends, another couple, Chris and Heather. Chris is the go-with-the-flow type of guy but only if Heather allows him to do so. Heather is a very kind person who looks out for others. She just crosses that line of being concerned to being motherlike. See we spend a lot of time with them, but it's like other people's children, you can go home and leave them, this time we couldn't. You maybe asking yourself why would we decide to go camping with such people . . . I just don't know. This question would overwhelm Greg and me for the next two weeks while planning this getaway.
Greg looked more pessimistically at the trip then I did. I thought if you go looking for a bad time, the only outcome will be a bad time. Realizing that we could be each other's only sanity from Heather's overpowering behavior and Chris's childlike mind, we made up little cues to give each other if we needed to getaway. We stocked up on interesting reading material to get lost in and relaxing alcoholic beverages to take off the edge. We packed up the trucks and we were off.
Chris's friend from work recommended the campsite so we decided to follow him since he had the directions. We traveled up interstate 84 east bound over the Newburgh Beacon Bridge and made our way to the State Taconic Parkway. Now, this is where Greg and I looked at each other in agreement that the trip was going to go only down hill from there, the parkway that we had gotten ourselves onto by following Chris was for passenger cars only. We both had commercial trucks. About fifteen minutes on the highway we passed a State Trooper, thank God he didn't budge from where he was sitting. Through that hour on the parkway we must have passed four Troopers, none of whom pulled us over. Finally, and I mean finally, we arrived two and a half hours later at our campsite.
All four of us got out of the trucks to observe where we were going to spend the next three days with each other, Greg and I actually found some humor with our surroundings.

|What I Did This Summer Essay - As a young student in India, every June, the first day of school, I was asked to write an essay that was always titled: "How I spent my summer vacation". "And make it interesting," my teachers would advise. I assumed that mere recountings of my days spent reading Nancy Drews would not qualify as "interesting". Neither would my detailed accounts of making paper straws and trying to blow bubbles with glycerin solution. So I always made something uplike visits to fairly exotic locales like Poona. I made sure the locales were not very exotic (very tempted to write the Himalayas once) or else the teacher would smell a rat.... [tags: Personal Narrative]||1010 words|

Summer Vacation Alcoholic Beverages Go Home Camping Trip Heather Greg Other People
We were roughly twenty steps from the bathrooms and ten steps from our neighbors. We knew it couldn't possibly get any worse until we heard the BANG of the bathroom door. I guess the camp people wanted to make sure the door would close properly to it's full closer, a spring used to shut the volt door at a bank was used to shut this simple hollow wooden door. With the startling noise of the door our neighbor let out several YEE-HAWS to his full capacity. With our minds made up that we were doomed, we applied our bug spray and set up camp.
Chris was predetermined to create the largest campfire at the grounds. Greg said it is because he's a pyro. So with the evening closing in, Chris sparks up a fire with a flare no less. Maybe he was just biding his time but I've gotten a larger fire on my grill at home. Either way he was happy, Heather allowed him to play before he had to go to bed. Shortly after Chris got his pyro like tendencies out our neighbor decides to do the same. Tex, as we all agreed on calling him because of his big white cowboy hat, threw a fourteen-foot log and a couple bushes in a pile and to create his masterpiece. Watching him light it with gasoline Chris's manlyhood was on the line, Tex's fire was blazing. I'm sure you figured it right, Chris added more wood doing nothing but smothering it. On that note we decided to head to our tents and go to sleep.
Did I say sleep? We wanted to sleep but Tex seemed to have a snoring problem. Chris and Heather slept right through it, Greg and I on the other hand didn't. We actually found it funny. We couldn't believe how Mrs. Tex slept with that but I guess she was used to it. We finally made it to sleep around three or so to be woken up by the crashing of the door and Yee-haws by our loud friend Tex. We got up and had our necessary dosage of coffee. It surprisingly was a relaxing day of no required energy. I found the greatest chuckle in Greg's experience of taking a shower. He told me in the most serious voice how he has never felt so violated. The showers were small, very dirty and overly populated.
That second and last night I think is the most vivid to me of the entire time. Earlier a middle-aged woman, by herself, set up camp, well her chair at the site next to us behind Tex. We didn't pay much attention to her all day. Night drew in and cris played with his fir, Greg sat back and laughed and Heather and I cleaned up from our chicken dinner. From our lights at the campsite we could see the lonely lady sitting by herself in the dark. Chris, being told by Heather, went over to offer the woman a lantern and interrupted her. She was crying hysterically. Little did we know from that moment on she would not leave us alone until midmorning. We all found out a lot more about this stranger then I think we knew about each other. Her name was Kim. She was crying because she just experienced a serious heartbreak after five years. We became very aware of her stalking potential by the way she explained how her heart got broken. A cup, which she brought to our site, was soon to be believed as full of alcohol. She was sloshed, repeating everything. I lost count of the times she told us of her breakup, her children, her job, her breakup and her job. She also seemed to take to Greg very well, you could tell she liked him. I thought it was quite humorous since she could have been his mother.
So since you have a basic understanding of what I did this summer I'll close on this, gather more information on where you will be staying if you choose to go away with friends, find the humor in the people like Tex he could be better company then middle-aged drunken women named Kim.
